And we have decided it’s time to bring our two loves together. (In my mind I hear Spice Girls’ ‘When two become one’. You can imagine that too, if you’d like).

So! Mark your calendars for this Tuesday and Wednesday, and stock up on stockings…at half the price! We know you’re busy. We know some of you’ve not had much time to decorate…and you’re still looking for last minute holiday goods to make your home feel warm and cheery. And doesn’t it feel so good to get away with such a good deal?

These stockings can be a wonderful addition to your home. On the front, is printed a heartwarming scene of snowmen or little animals, illustrated by Rebecca, and the stockings were sewn by Beth, (And I might add she did a wonderful job on the polka dot ‘cuff’). Two little jinlge bells accompany the hanging tab, and on the backs are soft grey felt (on the smaller one) and cream linen cotton (on the larger).

Starting Tuesday at 12 am, get your stockings for half price. You really can’t beat that. Sale ends 12 am on Thursday morning, so be sure to grab your stockings while their in ‘stock’. So clever, I know.

You got it. Shopping while sitting in your underwear in the middle of the day.

And you, my friend, are in luck! If you are looking for beautiful handmade items, either for yourself or for someone special, look no further, as OH DEAR has officially opened as an online shop! Whether it’s coasters, bags, or stockings you’re looking for, you are in the right place. Thanks again to those of you who came to the market last weekend, as we had an amazing time and nearly sold out of some things.

Take a look and let us know if you have any questions!

And we want to thank all of you that made it to the UICA Holiday Artists’ Market! It was a fabulous time, and if by chance you missed it, be sure to head in there for the co-op shop, where we will have our work for sale up until the 23rd! That’s good news for all your last minute shoppers.

This week we will also be selling our items online so make sure to check that out!

Check out some of the items for sale now!

Favorite Holiday Recipes

I (Elizabeth) spent yesterday sewing the adorable pot holders that Rebecca designed. I’d love to show them to you, but you’ll have to wait until Friday for the big debut at the UICA Holiday Market.
As I was working, I was thinking about all the holiday baking I used to do with my mother and grandmother when I was a little girl. I remember getting so excited about the new cookies that only appeared at this magical time of year. We made lots of candy cane cookies by twisting red and white cookie dough, sugar cookies with almond flavoring, cookies that looked like christmas tree ornaments with little crunchy metal balls on the frosting (which I was always nervous to eat), but I think my most favorite was the green wreath cookies made from cornflakes. I haven’t made them in years, but I’d like revive them this year. I’ve included the recipe below in case you’d like to try them too. Recently I’ve decided to try to eat vegan, which complicates things a little. I think I’ll try substituting the marshmallows with Ricemallow and the butter with Earth Balance.

Please share one of your favorite holiday recipes with us. You could enter the whole recipe as a comment, or just include a link.

Graditude Galore

It seems as though there is a lot to be thankful for in this life: Stretchy comfy pants, family, animals, sketchbooks, coffee, and life itself just to name a few. We are thankful that you all participated to share your blessings with us for this Thanksgiving season. This morning a drawing was done, and we are very pleased to announce that Ariel Frey, who is thankful for her bunnies, Olive and Charlie, is the new owner of a free baby zipper pouch. Congratulations Ariel!

In other news, we are busy working on our OH DEAR line, as it debuts this weekend at the Holiday Artists Market at the UICA. There is going to be a ton of amazing artists there, so be sure to check it out!

How would you like an Oh Dear gift, from us to you..just for enjoying Thanksgiving?!

We knew you would…that’s why you should comment on this post with something you are thankful for: cotton underwear, your dog’s breath, your family, or your ipod? Anything will do. We are giving everyone from now until 12 am on Friday night. After that, we will take all the names and do a drawing to see who receives a free baby zipper pouch..with free shipping!

Little Zipper Pouch, 3" x 4", with linen cream backing.

How cool is that? And all you have to do is be thankful for something.

And thank YOU for reading…we are wishing you a very warm, very happy Thanksgiving day.

It’s getting colder..

..but the heat of the sewing machine is keeping the place warm and toasty.

It’s very hard not to put up all of the new pieces being created…but we will find the self control to wait until the market.  I (Rebecca) went to visit Beth last night and was very pleased to find the very beautiful stocking she had sewn together. They are lovely, and we really are excited to share them with you.

More fabric came today! Busy busy busy… Two little snowmen awaiting my approval in a little package, and they are so sweet. They are excited, for soon they will become tree skirts!

More to come soon so keep your eyes peeled!

Sewing has begun!

Alright ladies and gents….The fabric is cut. The tree is up. The machine is silently and efficiently humming along…and bags are being born. Literally. Every time Elizabeth makes one and unfolds it, it looks like the act of birth and it is beautiful…

Special thanks to Napolean and Tilly for all their help….

Tilly

Tilly is lazy, but afterall he's a cat.

The UICA Artist Market is approaching, and fast. This is where we will be debuting our new items, so be sure and check that out. It will be held Dec. 3 from 5 to 9 pm, and Dec. 4 from 10 to 5 pm. The UICA has posted the artists participating in this event, and there are tons of amazing people…check them out!

In addition to selling work at the market, we will be posting them online soon….after the artist market rush. It would be nice to say we have them all ready, as this is all we do…but it’s quite the contrary. Beth and I both work and go to school..so we’ve got a lot on our hands…oh dear.

Here is a sneak peak of one of the bags!

OH DEAR zipper Pouch, 3" x 7"

More coming soon….until next time…enjoy the ground before it’s completely covered with snow!

And I need some new fabric scissors…Cutting out 21 yards of fabric means many blisters and many cups of coffee.

We are very excited…excited to sew, excited to listen to Christmas music, excited for coffee, and excited to introduce to you something that we hope will make you oh-so-happy……..Oh Dear…

Keep checking our blog…for this weekend, the sewing begins! We will post images soon of the work, and will also be setting up the online shop, allowing you to shop from your warm homes (isn’t it getting cold….fast?)

In other news, here is a video from last week’s newschannel, detailing the Women + The Arts luncheon. You can check out the bags we created for the event, and ‘meet’ Jill, who is a wonderfully amazing woman, who brought us on for the project. She is a sweetheart..

We are officially finished with our first project, which was to create 300 bags for the Women + The Arts Fundraiser for the UICA, happening tomorrow! It was a HUGE undertaking, especially with the other busy lives that we individually lead. It did though, give us a great amount of time to plan for our upcoming projects which we are both super excited about, and we hope you are too.

Muslin squares

Here are some peaks at the progress we went through the past couple of weeks. We were blessed to have the help of my (Rebecca’s) wonderful mother who sewed 60 bags on her own.

Fabric Squares

We will post some finished images soon….

As for our other projects, we will be bringing you an array of goods…from coasters to potholders to zipper pouches to calendars… All of the pieces will have illustrations from me (Rebecca Green)  and all of the fabric doings…sewing and such will be done by Elizabeth Forrest. Our first debut with these items will be at the UICA Holiday Artists’ Market Dec 3 and 4th. We will also be selling these online…so keep your eyes peeled. Though these items have not yet been made, check out some of the illustrations that are to go on the items!
